Privacy Policy

We built checkmyipaddress.xyz to show you network facts without taking any of your data. This policy is intentionally short: we avoid collecting what we don't need.
At a glance
We DO NOT:
- store IP addresses in application logs
- run analytics / tracking pixels / fingerprinting
- sell, rent, or share user data (we don't have it)
- set any third‑party cookies
We DO (transiently):
- read your IP address from the request in memory only to display it and derive basic connection info (e.g. version, rough type)
- optionally persist a light/dark theme preference locally (localStorage or a tiny first‑party cookie if needed). This contains no identifiers.
- store anonymized usage analytics including IP addresses for up to 30 days for diagnostic and service improvement purposes

Usage analytics are stored with automatic expiration (7-30 days) and contain no personally identifiable information beyond IP addresses, which are used solely for service diagnostics and improvement.
No persistent server logs with IPs are retained beyond ephemeral platform runtime diagnostics (Cloudflare may keep short‑lived edge logs for security/abuse mitigation – we do not aggregate or enrich them).
Cookies / storage
We use a minimal session cookie (nc_session) to track anonymized usage patterns. This contains a random identifier with no personal information and expires after 7 days. A small key like theme=dark may be stored (cookie or localStorage) if you toggle theme. These are not used for cross-site tracking.
Third parties
We do not embed third‑party analytics, social widgets, ad networks, or externally hosted JS that phones home. Static assets are served from our own domain / edge.
Security
Best‑effort industry practices: TLS everywhere, minimal surface area, no database of user records. Because we don't retain personal data, breach risk surface is reduced.
Your rights
Because we do not maintain personal data, there is nothing to access, export, correct, or erase. If you believe this statement becomes inaccurate (e.g. a new feature adds storage), contact us and we will update this page.
Changes
If we ever add data collection, we will: (1) update this page before enabling it, (2) clearly highlight the change, and (3) default to opt‑out where feasible.
